We're revving up for an important few days of maintenance work at Delph & Dobcross Cricket Club, and we need your help! Formerly known as the ECB Cricket Force weekend, our upcoming Get Set weekend is scheduled for Saturday, 23rd March.
Apologies for the short notice, but we have a 10k run happening on the 24th, so we need to tackle the maintenance work a day earlier. For those who can't make it, – we've set aside the 6th and 7th of April to wrap up any unfinished tasks.
In the past few years, our maintenance weekends have seen lower turnouts than we'd hoped for. This time around, we're aiming to change that and make a real impact. We're calling on all members of our cricketing community to join us on the 23rd and help us tackle these tasks head-on!
Here's a rundown of the main jobs we have lined up:
- Redecorate the home and away dressing rooms.
- Tidy up the umpires room (painting not necessarily required).
- Paint the boundary walls.
- Clear weeds from the path at the bottom boundary.
- Install a short stretch of land drain (approximately 10 metres) at the far end of the square on the bowlers' run-up. We have the piping; we just need clean gravel for backfilling.
- Dig out sand/gravel from the drain ditch at the top end of the ground, underneath the top banking.
We have some supplies in stock, including 2 tins of masonry paint and one small tin of white metallic paint. However, we'll also need assistance in acquiring additional materials such as brushes and skips. If anyone has spare time to help out with this, please let us know by contacting Groundsman Les Harrison on 07504 110286.
We're confident that with your help, we can tackle these tasks and get the club in top shape for the new season. Even if you can spare just three or four hours of your time, your contribution will make a world of difference.
Please RSVP if you're able to join us next Saturday, so we can allocate tasks accordingly.
