A homecoming for seasoned seam bowler is on the cards for Wasim / ‘Walter’ Qasim who left an indelible mark during his previous stint from 2015 to 2018.
Wasim has been plying his trade at Denton West and Stayley since his departure from Delph in 2018. Wasim played a pivotal role in our remarkable successes in a purple period from 2016 to 2017 where he helped us clinch the Premiership, Sykes Cup (twice), and T20 Trophy (twice), and Wasim was at the heart of those triumphs.
In his five seasons with us, he amassed an impressive record, claiming over 250 wickets. Notably, his standout performance was a memorable 7-32 on the final day of 2016 at Skelmanthorpe, earning him the Huddersfield league Johnny Hunter Award for Performance of the Season.
Wasim's proficiency with the ball is matched by his utility with the bat, solidifying our lower order with four half-centuries during his last spell. His return is not just about numbers; it's about the resurgence of a player whose dedication and skill resonate with the spirit of the club. As we welcome Wasim back, we eagerly anticipate the revival of some of the magic he brought to the pitch in the past, along with pestering scorers to amend his name in the scorebook!
Welcome back to the fold, Walter!
